The People already started the New Year’s Revolution
2011. If I shall recount my own year, it has been not just a roller coaster ride but something more challenging, something like a heart attack. Everything was changing in a heartbeat during 2011.
In my petty-bourgeoisie life — I had 2 jobs in 1 year and sticking to one now which I happened to love, I have proven myself to my family and other people that I can stand on my own and be responsible by moving to Manila.
But guess what, this is not the highlight of my 2011. It is more on my political life. In a span of 1 year, I have struggled more internally when it comes to being fulltime in the movement; I have learned to share what is in my mind to my collective, despite my comfortable life I struggled to find enough time to integrate deeply with the farmers and farm workers in the countrysides. I had the most wonderful chance in meeting new warm-blooded student activists which I am very proud of (they are now fulltime in serving the people). Also, in a span of 1 year, in being with the oppressed masses both in the rural and urban areas, I took part in their struggle. I saw their tears, their pain and their clenched fists while shouting reclamation of genuine freedom. I met exemplary youth and students that vowed to serve, protect and fight for the rights and interests of their fellows; I saw parents that stood up against programs and policies that hinder their children from education.
I saw a berdugo regime under Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo went down and been replaced by a government being run by the big landlords Cojuangco-Aquino and their running dogs. It was a whirlwind of socio-economic and political unrest which until now is in action. We all saw, how the world was on the edge as uprisings and protests occupy every state, every city, every nation against what Karl Marx had studied and predicted the crisis of Imperialism. No, it is not only us Filipinos are being oppressed in these neoliberal policies but as well as the international community.
The world in 1 year, realized who the real enemy is. It is not their fellow peoples of the world — it is the imperial powers headed by the United States that continues to wage and profit from war. Even the US-controlled paper, TIME magazine recognized and hailed that 2011 is a year of The Protesters. No, in my opinion, they will not be stopped within 2011 only. We will never be stopped. We shall carry on the struggle until victory.
I told someone yesterday that I would love to remain in the year 2011. But no, I must move and carry on to 2012 and the years to come.
For victory is written, the oppressed masses are on their feet marching on while red flags and songs of the struggle fill the streets. I will never miss this for anything in this world.###
